Kim MeyerYoga Teacher

Where were you born and where did you grow up?
Born in Erie, PA and raised in Pennsylvania, Ohio & Kentucky

How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga and what prompted you to take your first Bikram Yoga class?
I’ve been practicing almost 19 years. My first class was August 7, 2005. I was an avid runner and started having issues with my knee so I added yoga as cross training.

Why did you become an instructor and what aspects of Bikram Yoga have had the greatest effect on you?
I saw the healing benefits from this practice very quickly. I had a great mentor in the studio owner in Kentucky who was an amazing instructor as well as the other teachers there. What always stuck with me is “form over depth” and “never compare yourself to others”

What do you like to do when you are not in the yoga room?
I am still an avid cyclist and have recently fallen in love with pickleball.

What is your favorite pose in the Bikram series and why?
My favorite pose is triangle. I love the challenge of this pose. When I first started practicing Bikram yoga I could barely bend my left knee enough get my thigh parallel to the floor but consistent practice (strengthening and lengthening muscles) proved to be very healing.

What advice would you give to any new student?
Be patient with yourself and your practice. Consistent practice pays off
