Where were you born and where did you grow up?
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta
How long have you been praticing Bikram Yoga and what prompted you to take your first Bikram Yoga class?
I’ve been practicing since May 2005, a friend challenged me to the ‘toughest yoga class I’d ever take’ I’m so grateful I was up to the challenge!
Why did you become an instructor and what aspects of Bikram Yoga have had the greatest effect on you?
My story as to why I became an instructor is a long one. I’ll say that I teach as I want to create a safe space for people to experience whatever it is they need for that moment and to be able to heal, whatever that looks like. The Bikram Yoga practice helped me through the most difficult time in my life in all ways and I want to forever be able to share that loving healing.
What do you like to do when you are not in the yoga room?
I teach kickboxing and love that as well! I’m a fitness and wellness nut so anything active is what you’ll find me doing. If I can manage to sit still, you’ll find me reading a book.
What is your favorite pose in the Bikram series and why?
Camel. It used to be my nemesis and now I adore it. I love how strong yet vulnerable I feel all at the same time.
What advice would you give to any new student?
Go in with an open mind and an open heart. Try the practice numerous times with no expectation. Hydrate!
