Molly Benz

Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born in Boston, MA and grew up in Sudbury, MA. Since then I’ve hopped back and forth across the country, doing stints in San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles. My family and I moved to Dallas last summer.

How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga and what prompted you to take your first Bikram Yoga class?
I’ve been practicing for just about 7 years. I took my first class one Mother’s Day. I wanted to try something different, and something that would complement all the running and swimming I was doing.

What do you like to do when you are not in the yoga room?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids, exploring Texas (we are new to the area!) cooking, going on bike rides and watching their various baseball and water polo games.

What is your favorite pose in the Bikram series and why?Standing forehead to knee. I love how this posture has different stages, making it as accessible or as challenging as anyone needs it to be. I also love how it requires complete concentration and focus. It is hard to do this pose if your mind is anywhere else

What advice would you give to any new student?
Keep coming and try to come same time each day. You’ll see the benefits when you have a consistent practice!
